I love flowers but they don’t really love me back. Ya see, I have terrible allergies. So I admire from afar. I’ve been making the super cute flower pillows of late, new for fall and to appease my flower fix. A little daisy, a little sunflowery, very flowery.

Finally, Spring is here and this equals new designs in my book. I’ve been awfully quiet lately, due to winter season blahs, (we had more than our share of snow here in RVA, for real!) and working on new stuff. Still working on secret project #1 and #2. But what I can share are my new super fun eco felt pouches. On their debut at Spring Bada-Bing, I got a custom request for one sized for a netbook. How awesome! It was sent off to the new owner last Tuesday. So here are pictures of some the smaller ones (8″x 9″) but I guarantee more in the netbook size (12″x 8″). My mom has her request in already.
NLD has finally gone international with my first overseas sale to someone in Norway. Yay!!!
It was a little nerve racking trying to decipher the USPS.com website, intl. first class, intl. priority, oh my! but my local post office clerks were very helpful. I had always heard that it would be crazy expensive, but it turned out to be quite reasonable for the buyer, win/win.
Look out world you to can have something from NLD!!!
And as you can see to the left of the page I have added a newsletter sign up form box for yall to keep up to date with sales and possibly contests.
Finally Spring is here and the craft train is starting to leave the station. I have two upcoming shows, Spring Bada-Bing, April 19th and The Handmade Market, May 3rd. Really excited about these two shows, SBB of course, its the one I help organize. But its the The Handmade Market in Raleigh, NC I’m geeked for. Its one show I’ve tried to get into for 4 years, with year 4 being the charm! Well, officially three, I didn’t apply last year. I didn’t want the face the rejection of another year (que the violins!) and I was already signed up for craftshow craziness 2008.
More of the new!
I’m really grooving on toile this year. I have 2 more Urbanna bags in the hopper in other prints. And I’m thinking a nice toile print would look really nice in a dress design. Hmmmm, off to the sketchbook.
One of the things I have always liked are brooches. I have a stash from way back when. But for some reason, I haven’t been wearing blazers like I use too. That needs to change since I’m on a new kick to actually use the things I’ve been squirreling away or to de-stash.
I found these uber cool milk glass scarab cabochons and set out to make some brooches. I think brooches will be added to the regular repertoire of Nicole Lee Designs. The scarabs are limited edition, so if you love it like I do, they can be found in my etsy shop.
I recently got included in a Bohemian Vintage blog post featuring one of my Urbanna bags and a out of the blue I received an etsy convo from someone that loved the blue vespa one. Yay! I’m a stoked that I’ve been getting some good feedback on my new line of handbags. I’m feeling the vespa love!
So, I’ve decided that the Urbanna shoulder bag style is in the regular repertoire of NLD. Its cute, I’ve been getting some good feedback on them and fun to make to boot! And it will be offered in fabric other than just scooters, although as long as I can find it, the scooters will stay around.
You can buy your very own scooter bag and many other cool indie gifts tomorrow and Saturday at the Handmade Holiday show. *hint hint*
