Time for holiday cheer! The Richmond Craft Mafia yearly Handmade Holiday Craft Show is this Sunday. I’m busily sewing away on more pouches and may make some new items to throw in the NLD mix. Here is a sneak peak of what I am working on.

Nose to the grind stone. I have some sewing to do. I’m gearing up for the Handmade Throwdown at Crossroads Art Center!
The Richmond Craft Mafia is participating in the “The Art of Business Throwdown.” It is a competition between two teams (RCM and the Real Small Art League) competing to promote 2 visual artists of different styles. ( us = craft, them = art) The teams will be judged on: media coverage, overall sales, (from the gallery show) and the impact of the event on the artist’s platform. Think Donald Trump’s television show “The Apprentice.” and you have an idea of whats going on… HANDMADE THROWDOWN! Its going to be paint, clay, soap, beads, and fabric carnage everywhere! I kid, I kid! It will cool and you need to be there!! (did I use enough exclamation points!)

as the James Taylor song goes and its not just in my mind. I’m heading down to be one of the awesome crafters/designers at the Handmade Market.
This is the Handmaidens 7th market and I’m looking forward to hanging out with my Raleigh friends.
Another Spring Bada Bing has run its course. I’m soo proud of my fellow RCM members and all they do to pull off this show. A steady stream of customers all day and lots of positive feedback on the show from vendors and shoppers. There was even a line a half a block long to get in that morning! It was awesome! I’m just now fully coming out of my post show vegetative state.
We had a really nice write up from the Richmond Times Dispatch follow the link and read it for yourself. Its a first for us in the Times Dispatch which is a big coup.
If you are into unique, cool, kitschy, awesome handmade items, the Spring Bada-Bing (SBB) is the place to be!

This is the 4th year the Richmond Craft Mafia has been organizeing SBB and its shaping up to be one of the best. So what ya say? Come on out on Sunday and spend the day.
Finally Spring is here and the craft train is starting to leave the station. I have two upcoming shows, Spring Bada-Bing, April 19th and The Handmade Market, May 3rd. Really excited about these two shows, SBB of course, its the one I help organize. But its the The Handmade Market in Raleigh, NC I’m geeked for. Its one show I’ve tried to get into for 4 years, with year 4 being the charm! Well, officially three, I didn’t apply last year. I didn’t want the face the rejection of another year (que the violins!) and I was already signed up for craftshow craziness 2008.
More of the new!

I’m really grooving on toile this year. I have 2 more Urbanna bags in the hopper in other prints. And I’m thinking a nice toile print would look really nice in a dress design. Hmmmm, off to the sketchbook.
