It happens to me every time. The closer I get to the deadlines, my mind wants to go in 5011 different directions. Ideas for spring line, prototyping new styles (endless tweaking), new projects (screen printing), old projects (sewing!, finishing site update, de-stash fabrics, clean messy desk, etc).

Newly added to the list is a new banner. I really not digging getting another vinyl one, doesn’t really convey what I’m going for. Although, the old one with the old name was pretty nice. I’m want to try to make my new one using the Freezer Paper Stencil printing technique. There is an awesome flickr group dedicated to freezer paper printing. Really cool results! I may even document the process here. Oops! I think I just added yet another project. Oh well.

Catch Up - Day 2

One prototype down, doing tweaks to the pattern and will cut out the bag again. And most of the incomplete projects, completed. Still only slight dent in what I’d like to get done this week. Shockers of shockers, I am actually running low on some supplies, mainly interfacing. Its one of those things that you seem to just have, until you notice that you need a yard of it and only have this oddly shaped 4 inch strip left. Not quite that bad yet but, I’ll have to make a store run soon.

Prototype Making

Today was a catch up day. Working on patterns and prototypes and sewing up half completed items. Mostly top stitching and finishing details needed to move on. My two week self imposed deadline on new fabric usage is coming up quickly and I have to get hopping on those.

I am finally seeing the end of the tunnel with my website update. Yes!
My friend Amy has took the leap and now has her own website for her business Modern Atelier, after selling her scents inspired by places, sights and scents here in Richmond on Etsy. A favorite of mine is Botanical Gardens, and Kai Halulu and maybe Kuba Kuba. Ok, so that’s more that one. Out From Under The Bridge

I am a bit of a homebody, borderline hermit. But I did venture out from under the bridge today to celebrate my friend’s Dawn and Craig’s new kitchen and done home renovations. Some of my mafia peeps were there and met some new people too. I missed a couple of other friends open houses, parties, and what not so far this year. Its an on going process to force myself to get out more. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don’t.

Back to the agenda for this weekend, finish the items using my new fabric. My two week deadline is ticking away. And I need to make some more pouches in some brighter fabrics.

Must De-stash

I MUST de-stash some of my fabrics. I just haven’t figured out how to. Maybe an etsy shop? At this point, its a little overwhelming to try to “make” something out of all of it.

This is just one drawer of 1/2 yd-1 yd pieces. I am actively mining through this one, but I have others. At least this one I can look in and remember what projects I earmarked them for. I did get an organizing bug and have them divided by colors or type, pink/red in one drawer, silks and satins in another. Its about as rare as Haley’s comet but occasionally I do have sparks of organization.

On the River Denial

I did some hanging out with the crafty crew of the Richmond Craft Mafia tonight. We’re firming up details for the Handmade Holiday Show, at the Visual Art Center in December. I always get inspired from hanging out with my friends. and they always have something new and interesting going on.

And I am soo not ready. Lots of ideas for new items, lots of sewing to do for boosting in-stock product for the show. And I am in full on denial mode, What Holiday show? I have plenty of time, I’ll work on that tomorrow… And I am easily distracted with wanting to start a totally new project, learning how to silk screen. Wave to me from the shore of reality as I float by on my river of denial.

Not feeling particularly crafty today. Lots of things I need to do but lacking steam to do them. I’m pulling from my handy dandy mp3 playlist to get motivated and reading some of my favorite style blogs to get inspiration.
